Server Version#: 1.31.0.6654
Player Version#: 4.87.2
I’m guessing this is related to something in the latest build released but holy hell.
Scanner is searching for credits and just beating the crap out of the CPU.
Anyone else see this?

FWIW I found and disabled this new “feature” but dude…
Announcement thread: Plex Media Server 1.31.0.6654 is now available to everyone
NEW:
Yeah, was released as enabled by default.
Server level:
Settings → Server_Name → Library
Generate video preview thumbnails = Never / as scheduled task / as scheduled task and when media added
Library level
Edit Library → Advanced → Enable credits detection
Movie / TV Show level:
Edit movie/show → Advanced → Enable credits detection
Yeah… maybe…don’t do that?
whoa. TIL what htop was… omg. so much better than top lol. Thanks man.
Yes, I was seeing this also, but much worse. I am running the linuxserver.io docker image on Intel hardware.
Soon after starting the container after upgrading to 1.31.0.6654, the server crashes, not just the container, or even all of docker - the whole server locks up and the fans shift into full speed mode.
Restarting the machine results in another eventual crash, within an hour or two. No idea what is actually going wrong here. I’ll follow this thread for a while, but if there is no solution, I’ll have to upload debug logs.
Downgrading to the prior version, 1.30.2.6563 and all is well.
Edit:
Looks like an update is available to: 1.31.1.6716. Trying now.
Server was scanning for credits for almost two hours and then crashed.
After restarting and doing its thing with credits it crashed again. Feature is now disabled. Will try again with the next update to PMS.
