CPU % when scanning new media

Hi
I’m running Plex from a Synology DS220+ server and like a lot of users have been recently finding that every time I scan to add new media the Synology CPU usage % instantly rockets to over 90% and stays at that level until after the scan is completed – and the scan is also taking a lot longer than it used to.
From looking at other postings etc it would seem that this may be linked to the “Generate credit video markers” option in Settings/Library. My setting is currently at “as a scheduled task and when media is added”. Is this the cause of the problem?
If I change this setting to “never” will this result in a one off change in the status of every title already on Plex the next time I scan to add new media (which could take a long time), or will it only affect the new media that is being added.
In the past, the generate intro video markers/skip intro option has never been a problem in terms of affecting the speed of the scan or the amount of CPU used.

Any advice would be appreciated - Thanks

The activity icon in Plex Web will show if credit detection is active (just like it does for intro detection, thumbnail generation, etc.)

Disabling credit detection in Settings → Library will stop the process for all media (I’m not sure if existing credit markers are removed).

Credit detection can also be controlled at the per library or per show/movie level. See Credits Detection for details.

Intro detection analyzes the audio track, which is not CPU intensive (the same as transcoding audio). Credit Detection analyzes the video track, which is CPU intensive (the same as video transcoding using the CPU). That is why the CPU utilization is higher and credit detection takes longer than intro detection.

When they introduced the Credit Detection functionality they activated it for everyone by default in a typical Plex nonsense. Disabling this new functionality should solve the problem.

Many thanks - I’ll have a go at changing the settings

Hi
So, if I change the Library setting for Films to “Never” , I shouldn’t see any more “Skip Credits” banners at the end of my films.
In the Advanced Settings of an individual film, the setting for Enable Credits Detection is “Library Default”, which should mean no “Skip Credits” banners at the end of that film, and, if I change it to “Disable”, I will see the “Skip Credits” banner at the end of only that film. - Is that correct?
Thanks for your help
