Crash to iOS home screen during playback on iPad

Server Version#:1.18.8.2527 (Though latest crash occurred before installing this version today)
Player Version#:iOS 6.8

I have had this issue for years now. Over many server and player updates.
Playback will crash to iOS home screen without warning.
This seems to random and I haven’t noticed that it occurs with certain file types or with or without transcoding.
On reloading the app it goes to the Plex home screen.
On resuming the file the starting position is often 20 minutes behind where the crash occurred.
This is local streaming from my QNAP TS-x53Be NAS (Firmware 4.4.1.1216) to my iPad (6th generation) currently running software version 13.3.1. Though it used to occur streaming from my PC before I got my NAS.
I have tried with and without the experimental player but it makes no difference.

I’ve not reported it up to now as most problems eventually go away with updates but this has been present for a long time so I’ve decided to seek help.

Please let me know if more info is required like player logs.
Any help or suggestions with this is greatly appreciated.

Sorry for the late reply and thank you for getting posting.
The fault looks similar to some of what is posted. Janine-Campos mentions a black screen but I’ve not noticed that but ddtemplar and mazac seem to describe the same thing as me. Just no warning crash to iOS home screen.
If it helps to merge the two threads and you are happy to do that it would be appreciated.
