Crash trying to transcode for no reason on seek or resume, ShieldTV

Recently Plex has become borderline unusable for me even tho I’m on android version pre update that broke everything.

I can’t resume playback or enable subtitles without a crash or being told my overkill gaming PC ‘server is not powerful enough’.
I’m direct playing over gigabit LAN with transcoding off. Playback from start to finish works, but if I seek, enable subtitles, or resume playback I get spinning circle then an error.
Also, is the only option to reset server defaults involve messing with windows registry?

EDIT: Found this thread seems to be the same issue. So the stable version of player is broken but the beta version isn’t? How is that a thing?
Also there appears to be no option to join beta when browsing play store from the shield

Fixed for the time being by uninstalling Plex on the shield, and sideloading an older version.
