Crash when recording or watching live TV.

I have read about people having similar issues, but can’t find where there is a solution…

I setup a HDHomeRun Prime with my Comcast cable card and a Roku (so I can watch live tv).

When I watch live TV, after a short period, the screen goes blank with “Retrieving 33%” and after it times out I get an error “Playback was terminated by server. Conversion failed. The transcoder crashed or failed to start up.”

Also, I can’t get anything to record for more than a few minutes.

I have tried all the settings I can find, but no luck… the point of me doing this is to get rid of my dish.

Plex Pass Subscriber
Plex Server Version: Version 1.11.0.4666
Roku and HDHomeRun is up to date…

I have logs, but not sure which ones will be most useful…

Thank you in advance.

The zip file of the server logs please collected via Settings / Server / Help / Download Logs
To be collected after the failure
Ensuring that debug logging was enabled beforehand (settings / server / general / show advanced)
Please indicate time of failure when posting the zipped logs

Sure thing… here you go…

The “Retrieving 33%” came up at 08:18 and the server error came up right at 08:19.

Any ideas what could be causing it?

Have looked at the earlier logs

There was a timeout on the request to the DVR - could be network issue ? DVR issue?

Basically the transcoder was getting the stream from the DVR for that channel through http://192.168.249.1:5004/auto/v222 and it timed out

I’m having pretty regular crashes when watching LiveTV through PLex. Mac Mini server running Sierra OS X 10.12.8 and using a HD Homerun with a digital antennae.

Well I do appreciate it… I was using an older NetGear 10/100 switch. I bypassed it and so far it is working.

Thank you for your help.

Please get some diagnostics

Make sure debug logging is enabled on the server
See https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/201643703-Reporting-issues-with-Plex-Media-Server

Restart the server to get fresh log files created

Wait for next crash. When it happens note down the time and restart the server
Then download the logs zip
attach the zip in a post together with the time of the issue
