Crazy! Plex Media Server Cannot be Found?

I have given up on trying to find other comments/replies for this issue. Each reference link takes me to another long list of suggested links!

I just purchased, downloaded and installed Plex Media Server. When I attempted to launch, directly from your installer, I received “Plex Media Server cannot be found.” I checked the Start Menu, it’s there. I looked in Program Files(x86). It’s there. I looked in Program Manager. It’s there.

I attempted a Repair before trying to un- /reinstall. The Repair mode stopped about, I would guess, 95% completion. I went to Task Manager, ended task, and attempted an uninstall. It was rejected saying an uninstall was already in progress. I returned to Task Manager, looked in Details to find the task was not ended after all.

I ended the tree and attempted a reinstall. According to your installer this was successful. However, it did not install.

If this is what I can expect from your product, I want an immediate refund.

On this PC, was there ever previously Plex Server installed?
If so, it might still be using the plex account data from back then. Which prevents access to it, if your clients (that includes the browser app) are signed into a different account.
This procedure removes the old account data from the server: https://support.plex.tv/articles/204281528-why-am-i-locked-out-of-server-settings-and-how-do-i-get-in/

I’m just curious what makes you say for sure it didn’t install.
Have you tried browsing to http://127.0.0.1:32400/web/index.html

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, after waiting for 1/2 hour, I got the message, “Server cannot be found.”

This is a new PC. although the Plex link shows in Start menu, this is the first time I attempted to use it on any computer.

Are there any log files from Plex server to be found?

(scroll down to ‘Manually Finding Log Files’
zip up the whole log folder and attach them here)

I guess"third time’s the charm" applies. I did a deep search of my hard drives and found the application. It still didn’t work. I decided to try one more time. Since it didn’t show in program manager, I manually deleted all files, defraged the drive and reinstalled. It works now.
