Creating a premium music library just gives me a standard library...

So now that the Android Plex app can do transcoding for streaming, I figured why not upgrade to get a premium music library and ditch Subsonic (as the last time I tried a premium library it organised all my music perfectly).

Now however, even with the library being mostly the same as the last time I tried it out, when I create a premium library it appears to be just using embedded tags (with ‘Personal Media Artists’ as the only source for matches which returns results), and no information about the releases, lyrics or star ratings etc are appearing.

I’ve 100% sure that ‘create a premium music library’ is selected and ‘use embedded tags’ is not.

Any idea what could be going on? I’m on version 3.9.1 of Plex Media Player for macOS, and the server is a Linux box running version 1.7.5.4035 of Plex Media Server.

Can anyone help?

To put the issue more concisely, what seems to be happening is that the library is only seeing ‘Personal Media Artists’ (the embedded tags IIRC?) and ‘Last.fm’ as sources for metadata.

Last.fm doesn’t return any matches ever, and Gracenote obviously doesn’t seem to be coming into the equation, so I’m just left with them using the embedded tags.

Can you post a screenshot of your Agents? Is it similar to this?

Sure, I have them set to this atm:

It actually seems like when I create a standard library, it is matching my music better? The artwork in the standard library is all higher quality, and album titles are more often correct. With the premium library, a lot of the artwork is low resolution, badly cropped or set to photographs of the packaging or of the artist, and many of the titles are incorrect and all my EPs have [EP] appended to them. It’s strange because the last time I tried a premium library it was perfect.

I’m afraid I’m not going to be much help. I gave up on Gracenote and Last.FM some time ago, because they are both so full of bad data. I put in some time to get my embedded tags in good order, then configured Plex to prefer embedded tags.

What about the agents under the Last.fm page (Artists and Albums):

My last fm for artists/albums has last.fm/last.fm first, then fanart.tv/lyricfind, then home theater backdrops/fanart.tv, then local media assets
