Plex Premium Music Library Artist issue

Hi guys,

Why when using a plex premium library for an album having multiple discs the second disc does not grab the artist name for the tracks, this happend for compilation containing songs from multiple artists. When using a default non-premium library the artist is grab as expected. Take a look on the screenshot below.

Is this a freshly added album or one that is already a while in the library?

Hi Otto,

Of course this is a new one, an no mather the album that i have, the behavior is the same when using premium Library. Below the screenshot for a library that does not use the premium feature, you can see that the 2nd disc gets the artist for every track.

You could try it yourself, just make a folder named “VA-Café.del.Mar.Vol.22-2CD-FLAC-2016” and create 4 empy files like here-under then create a new library and add the folder to it.

101 - D.K. - Evening Shadows.flac
102 - Bloom - Fall.flac
201 - Wilson Tanner - Sun Room.flac
202 - Terrane Feat. Thomas Prime - Carve Our Fate.flac

In the properties of your Premium library, do you have the checkbox ticked ‘Use embedded metatags’?

Is ‘Local Media Assets’ in the topmost position under
Settings - Server - Agents - Albums - Plex Premium Music
?

I tried both settings, checked and not check, no difference.
The agent is configured by default as you mentioned in your post.

Otto, try to add it on your server, just create the folder and add the dummy files to test.

Just for the reccord, id3 tags are present on each track, i usually take care of this when i’m ripping my audio cds.

I think that is either a bug either a gracenote limitation.

Try this:
set the check box
and put the LMA into top position

Then perform the Plex Dance “lite” (step 4 can be omitted with music) with the album.

Well, the Plex Dance lite did the trick. It seems that using local metadata is needed with premium music libraries since grancenote does not handle multi disc albums. I think that i when i have told you that i have created library with and without embended tags usage in fact i forgot to empty the trash so the same cache data was used.

However i’m, still not sure why is that since the song recongition should be ran with sonic fingerprinting and match should have been perfect and why is not working as expected when local tags are not used. Maybe i’m completely wrong but maybe the scanner is broken with gracenote, any employee to confirm/infirm?
