Not sure this has been asked but is there a way to create a library that you add say Saturday morning cartoons and it plays episodes in order? Example episode one of one series and then it plays episode one from another series and it remembers where you leave off and continues as if it was playing from a network. after the last show on your list it would cycle back to episode two and do it all over again.
I see this useful for any channel you would like to recreate. ABC friday nights from the 90’s, After School Cartoons from the 80’s. Make your own network channel within PLEX.
You can create a Playlist and call it whatever you like - Cartoon Channel. I use Kodi along with PseudoTV Live to create a TV station/channel experience. There is a feature request for similar in Plex. Click “Like” on the first post.
How would i make it play episode one from each show then go on to episode two of each show? And if a series only has 12 episodes ignore that series until entire playlist resets.
I too would love to have a PseudoTV feature within PLEX. It would be my number one feature request.
PseudoTV is not really what i am asking for i do not care for shows to play random or act like they have been playing. What i am after is really just a playlist that mimics the way TV was consumed but with no wait til next week for next episode of your show. Instead you watch one show it jumps to next show and plays its next episode and when you hit your last show on your list it cycles back to first shows next episode. Example I add XMEN and spiderman cartoon from 90’s called “Saturday Cartoons”. It plays first episode of XMEN then Plays first episode of Spiderman then jumps back to XMEN episode 2. Now say I am 10 episodes deep into both series and i add a new show Hulk cartoon into playlist it plays XMEN 11 then Spiderman 11 and Hulk 1. This is how TV broadcasters would have worked minus commercials and reruns. Hope this makes sense and if it is available now and i am missing something let me know.
You can want in one hand and well… In Plex you can create a Playlist - that’s it. I’m done here…
The way PMS does channels is by web based m3u playlists. The way existing Channels functionality is defined, it doesn’t lend itself to a traditional EPG. The DVR side does have it’s own program guide methodology, but since the conventional cable box program guide layout and functionality is copy-written… it wasn’t used.
However, it seems to me, the logical thing would be to add some code to leverage existing playlist logic and existing program guide logic, have a streamlined means to a smashing new feature.
Another way to look at this would be, I want to binge watch 3 TV shows at the same time in episodic order but not consecutively . For example I want to watch 3 shows - show#1 episode 1, then show #2 episode #1, Show #3 Episode #1 and so on… and after watching each show for 5 episodes, I add another show into the list. It would obviously not jump straight to the 6th episode for the new show as i have not seen 1-5 yet but it would play 1st episode of Show #4. The very next show would be next one in playlist at episode 6 followed by the rest of the shows until the newest show would start at Show #4 episode # 2.
The reason for this would be it would change up what you are watching and you would not get bored of the same binged show, having to wait til its all done to watch at second show.
Binge watching on steroids is what i would call it.
I agree, I have been wanting this for a very long time. I posted a similar ask back in 2012. I want Plex to act like a TV Guide for my shows. So I can enjoy a daily lineup of shows in episode order not binge watching only 1 show. For instance relive TGIF with Full House, Dinosaurs, Family Matters and Perfect Strangers. Each starting with Episode 1 allowing me to watch 4 episodes of 4 shows each Friday in consecutive episode order. Playlist function is just a jumbled mess and chosing “random” just makes it more annoying.
I too am searching for this kind of feature.
Instead of making just a Playlist, what you want to do is make a Smart Playlist. I just did this recently for the Arrowverse, but the same principle applies. Here’s a basic breakdown of how to do it:
There’s a ton of options, you can mix it all up however you want, and as long as you’re adding new content it will auto-add to the Playlist.
