Playlist Enhancement for TV shows - Called TV Station or TV Channel

Right now, you can add TV series to a playlist, then go to the playlist and select the shuffle. We’re close, but there should additional options. I have setup a Saturday morning playlist with TV series spanning my childhood, including, Looney Tunes, Scooby Doo, Flinstones, Jetsons, Rocky & Bullwinkle, Tennesee Tuxedo and more. The way playlist currently functions, I may get three Flintstones in a row before my first Looney Tunes, then I may see the same Jetsons episode I saw last Saturday.

We could add settings as such:

  1. Add the option to specify minutes or hours before an episode is shown from the same TV series. Currently, in a playlist, it’s possible that you would see three episodes of one series before you see an episode from another series. Adding a new no-repeat setting would force Plex to play through each TV series in the playlist.
  2. Add an option to not repeat an episode or to “remember” where you left off. Add the option to only play unwatched episodes (unwatched in the playlist, not the “watched” setting in the library, this “watched” setting is separate).
  3. Add the option to a playlist which automatically starts the playlist in shuffle mode.
  4. Add an option to start a show at some random time within the show, as if you’re changing channels and you “landed” on it randomly. This would only apply to the first item in the playlist.

This would make the playlist feature more like a TV station. Simply tune in and chill. No more making decisions!
