Creating yet another request to have the developers fix Android Plex player functionality when not logged into Plex

The issue is that plex for Android is broken when not signed into an account. I use Plex locally so I do not use an account. It seems to be stuck in a “read only” mode. If I close a video, I have to start the entire video again. I cannot save preferred audio/video tracks, and cannot mark something as played/unplayed.

I am including the below link from my old thread where the Plex team acknowledged that this was a regression. I cannot get a responses from the Plex team anymore so I am hoping that a developer can PLEASE let me know if this is being worked on?

What about creating a locally managed users, with no PIN, and set to login automatically. I have different local users on my plex so they can manage their own “played” status.

How do you do that? Would you still need an account to create other locally managed users? My issue is that I do not want to use an account. There is no need for me to have an account, and I don’t need any features that are specific to accounts. All I need is working software to stream files locally on my network. My apologies if I mis-understood your answer.

No, I think I was wrong, I was under the impression that you could create local accounts without creating a plex account. I have been using plex for so long, it might have been changed somewhere along the way. Seems that you cannot create users without an sign in. So yup you will need you issue fixed as the devs have mentioned.
