Creation of .meta files?

I have 2 Plex Media Servers installed, one (old) on a Mac and the other (very recent) on a Nividia Shield TV PRO 2019.

When I scan their respective libraries, Plex creates .meta files but not for all of the records.

Why and what consequence can this have ?

I have never heard of these .meta files in conjunction with Plex. I am pretty sure these are made by a different software.

Are these files ext, nfo? meta extension are from RealNetworks RealPlayer

I’m going to delete them, restart my Mac and do a new library scan.

I will know more.

Everything is OK,

I had tested Kodi and it was he who had created these.meta files !
