[CreditsDetectionManager] BufferingLineReader: failed to read line (error: -1)

Having the same issue on UNRAID

I just want to know if someone from Plex is working on this issue? Or at least is in their roadmap because it’s been 3 months since the last response from a Plex’s employee :frowning:

Judging from Plex’ lightning fast reaction time on all stuff not related to their streaming service I would check back in 2024.

Bumping thread - I have this issue as well, another Synology user. Intro detection seems to work well and I use it to skip intros regularly, but I have yet to see a prompt for skipping credits… and for months, it seems like it’s always scanning the same TV show to try and detect the credits. I am disabling the feature for now. Happy to provide logs if they would be helpful; hopeful for a fix as it is a feature I would utilize.

Hi @drzoidberg33, just wanted to ask if you have any updates about this bug? I and many others are still having this issue after 4 months that the Credits Detection functionality was implemented :frowning:

Really excited to try this new feature out!

It is not only for synology, we have ubuntu 22.04 and still nothing to resolve it.

More then 5 months and no solution, not even an acknowledgement by Plex that they are working on it.

I’m still experiencing the error: Plex scans the same TV Show again and again:

Add other 3 months, issue is still active

Edit: with the latest beta the errors are still there but at least the process doesn’t get stuck forever

Keeping the topic alive, and I’m experiencing the same problem. Have turned off credits detecting, which is just mitigation

I am experiencing this issue as well on latest stable version. This is particularly annoying as my disks keep getting spinned up for no reason whatsoever on a daily basis.

Hi,
Any luck in solving this?

/BR

I’m seeing the same errors. It’s bad enough for me it hard crashes my machine… I have to turn of credit detection completely again.

On the latest version, running debian 12 linux. Seeing the same errors a lot recently. I’ve noticed my plex server hanging up recently, to the point where I have to reboot the service. Im not sure if this is why or not, just something I saw in the logs. Logged in this morning and saw that I had about a hundred lines indicating that plex credit detection failed.

BufferingLineReader: failed to read line (error: -1)

Looks like I’m joining the club:

Feb 08, 2024 17:27:40.182 [139629785856824] ERROR - [CreditsDetectionManager] BufferingLineReader: failed to read line (error: -1)

Do I need to have transcoding enabled? Video transcoding is currently disabled.

Nevermind! I enabled DEBUG logging and it looks like it’s working even though I get an ERROR in the log.

Feb 08, 2024 17:27:40.291 [139629785856824] DEBUG - [CreditsDetectionManager] Successfully processed item 403241

Edit: If there’s actually no error, why log this ERROR in CreditsDetectionManager?

Joining the club with the same error. CPU maxes out at 100% and the credit detection for the movie stalls.
