Currating Large Playlists

I’m going absolutely nuts with playlists right now. I had been using collections for a while to organize large “cinematic universes” i.e. marvel as an example. After I started to mix tv shows and multiple libraries together, I had to go to playlists.

Now, I am seeing that when things are added to a playlist, you can’t pick where you want them inserted (think: entire season of a TV show going into spot “#4” instead of “end of playlist” when added. It’s absolutely infuriating. What’s worse, I can’t multi-select and drag to move (even that would be terrible since I have to scroll 100 items up), or better yet I can’t say “move to spot 4 as a group” or something.

Is there any playlist improvement coming?
Is there a way I can do this in XML or something offline, upload it, and make it work successfully?

I’m very curious as well.

It’s baffling to me that I can’t sort my playlists at all. I spent all this time trying to get the scanner to read files, import iTunes, etc. (I still can’t get it to fully work) but then I discover playlists are functionally useless. They lack functionality I had with winAmp back in the day!

Are there any plugins or other solutions?

I have not found anything that I could figure out, but it’s infuriating that both the options made available don’t work for the need (playlists and collections).
