Would love to be able to move batches of items in playlists at once (not just one at a time). For instance, I have a Stargate playlist with all of the movies & TV episodes (over 400 videos). I want to order the playlist based on my preferred viewing order. At this time, I have to drag each item into the desired position.
Stargate Viewing Order
Stargate Origins: Catherine
Stargate
Stargate SG-1, episodes 1.1 – 8.2
Stargate Atlantis, episodes 1.1 – 1.15
Stargate SG-1, episodes 8.3 – 8.20
Stargate Atlantis, episodes 1.16 – 2.1
Stargate SG-1, episodes 9.1 – 10.2
Stargate Atlantis, episodes 2.2 – 3.4
Stargate SG-1, episodes 10.3 – 10.12
Stargate Atlantis, episodes 3.5 – 3.19
Stargate SG-1, episodes 10.13 – 10.20
Stargate: The Ark of Truth
Stargate Atlantis, episodes 3.20 – 5.1
Stargate: Continuum
Stargate Atlantis, episodes 5.2 – 5.20
Stargate Universe
We should be able to select, say for example, Stargate Atlantis episodes 3.20 thru 5.1 & drag them as one unit into position between Stargate: The Ark of Truth & Stargate: Continuum.
Currently we can select multiple items, but the only options available are to remove from playlist or deselect (not drag/reposition like is available on a single item).
I recently started creating playlists for my audiobook collections so that: 1) they would play an entire series of books in the correct order, and 2) I could sync an entire series at once.
When a new book in a series comes out, it doesn’t always belong on the end of the playlist, and some of these are 250+ tracks. It would be nice to be able to multi-select tracks, or else be able to reorder by title (read as album, since there is no official audiobook support.)
I nearly can’t belive this is not yet implemented after all the request is nearly 2 years old…
And i’d say it is even more annoying with MP3-Playlists, as I stated here: Move multiple Items on Playlist (don’t vote for that. I really didn’t see this previous post here)
Thanks for considering this feature for a (near) future version.
I am working on HUGE video playlists. Like Marvel (Films & TV) which has nearly 500 items in it, and Star Wars (Film & TV) which has nearly 300 items in it, The ArrowVerse…and working on more. This feature would be a gigantic time saver when adding in seasons of newly released content (like Loki & Star Wars: The Bad Batch). Please make this happen! asap
Really? please Mr. Plex… do you think we have to vote for a basical thing like this? Only 22 votes… because common user never lose time googling for solutions. Simply returns back to Spotify…
Seriously, this is a completely basic function, along with auto-scrolling when dragging an item in a playlist. Currently, if I want to move multiple songs from the bottom of a playlist to the top, I have to not only do it one at a time, but drag it to the top of the screen, scroll the screen down so it’s now at the bottom, then drag it up some more, over and over, until it’s where I want it. Is it just that most people who use playlists just randomize them usually, and don’t care about the order?
Yes this is VERY frustrating. In doing the Arrowverse playlist I can try adding an episode that I missed but I cannot get it to move. I guess I am chalking it up to having a count of 620 episodes. I have to basically make a mental note at 557 to watch a batwoman episode -.-. Being able to select the # to move it to would be great as well since the drag and drop seems to work when it wants to.
I voted as well. Not being able to move multiple items in a playlist is literally my only issue with plex - if you like any kind of control over what order you hear / see things, this is a long needed feature.
This is a VERY necessary feature! It is crazy to me that this is not possible where we were easily doing this in Winamp 20 years ago! Playlist in Plex are generally very buggy and the entire playlist experience is just frustrating and a much bigger chore than it needs to be.
Another vote for this request! It’s very painful editing 300+ song playlists via drag and drop ( which seem to glitch out if you need to move a song more than a couple spots). Multi-select or being able to directly set indexes would be amazing.
This is arguably even more important for music playlists…
Use case:
Let’s say I want to create a chronological playlist of the greatest american songwriter that has ever lived, Tom Waits.
I added all the albums to the playlist correctly but then realized I was missing the seminal Swordfishtrombones (1983, Island Records). I add the album to my library and subsequently to the playlist, only to find it positioned at the end of the playlist, after the ground breaking avant-garde offering Bad As Me (2011, Anti-); and thus not in the correct chronological order. I dismay as I realize I need to move each individual track 30 years back in time to the correct position in row order.
Some options:
Add an ‘album’ view to music playlists, so that I can use the current drag handles on the album, and not the individual tracks.
Just let me sort the playlist chronologically based on the year in the metadata (probably best option)
When I select multiple tracks, don’t remove the drag-handle UX, and let me drag all the selected tracks as a chunkity-chunk.
I hope this makes the cut sometime before our planet melts! Until then, I’ll just keep looking for The Heart of Saturday Night (1974, Asylum Records).
Throwing my name into the mix here. I’m a playlist junkie and being able to select multiple files to reorder would save me countless hours. Given that this feature has been long requested I’m not holding my breath. Not to sound unappreciative though, I truly love the PMS/Plexamp experience. This is just an annoying hinderance.
Another feature that would be well received is being able to categorize/nest playlists.
Spotify does both of these and well might I add. Too bad their service is garbage otherwise.
