Dude, read the room, Plex REALLY messed up. I really don’t think you understand the gravity of the situation that has upended a portion of people’s routines. Hell, I’m Autistic with ADHD and I know for a fact that my tolerance level is a whole lot more stable than the ones Plex has already P’d off right now.
Seriously, the only reason why ANY EFFORT is being as fast as it is, is due to Plex’s very own doing of launching a very bad app with barebones and were railed for doing so. This is not the first time either. People are one by one receiving emails about the new policies and pricing, which again, I’ve pointed this out time and time before, you guys have implemented tools that you don’t even use. You see this below… What is that doo hicky thing called ANNOUNCEMENTS there for if you’re NOT using it to ANNOUNCE to admins and all users of the new information IN A TIMELY MANNER.
Seriously, grow up. The Plex userbase and community DESERVE better than this.
Please add this to the list. On iOS live TV doesn’t play if PMS server is set to encode HEVC Always (Transcoder settings->Enable HEVC video Encoding). Setting HEVC encoding to “HEVC sources only” solves the issue.
(1) Current version has no sync / download capability in playlists. This was a huge function which allowed people to manage downloads to multiple devices easily through playlists (I.e. create one playlist or smart playlist and then download that playlist on multiple devices – it would also sync to that playlist so things added / removed from that playlist would synd to the device)
(2) The view for downloads is incredibly problematic - all downloads are one single long playlist. We need a library view for downloads even when offline - it should always display downloads as its own library view separated by movie format / TV format (I.e. replicates the library view used for where the content was downloaded from).
In my six years of using Plex, I’ve never felt compelled to use another application.
I’m away from home for a while and I want to watch a tv show with my family. Watch together is available on the family Roku, but not my phone, because it was “retired”?
Instantly made me want to use a new application. Plex is out here redesigning the app as a solution for a problem that doesn’t exist, all while removing actually valuable features.
Congrats and thanks for releasing the “Download Unwatched” feature for TV Shows with 2025.18.0. It’s not quite as sophisticated as the old download system but It’s a pretty good stopgap. I’m glad you got it out the door quickly. Thanks again!
iPad mini with remote quality set to anything other than maximum ‘shrinks’ the video to the resolution and does not scale it to fit the screen, resulting in a very tiny image. This also relates to no ability/bug where you cannot pinch/double tap to zoom, which usually would ‘fix’ this by maximizing the lower resolution. This is reproducible in the current App Store production version as well.
Sorry if this has already been posted here. I just watched some movies on my iPad with the new app, and it works fine. However, I noticed that the movie cover images are very low quality… In the web interface of Plex or the desktop app they are as crisp as they could be…
I’ve been off on a vacation, watching some downloaded episodes the week before. Episode watch progress has reflected on the server… so I consider your belief is slightly outdated
It’s not working for me, but then I stopped using the Plex App offline capability due to the hampered download features and the fact that it wasn’t reflecting watch state. Currently using Infuse until the client has feature parity with the old app.
Unfortunately Tom, the Continue Watching feature on Home Page is a bit flaky and at times does not reflect content consumption. Use of Reset Cache resolves stuck.
