Current Missing Features & Bugs with the iOS App Experience Preview

Couple more things:

Preview thumbnails do not show up when scrubbing. And when scrubbing the timeline, the playback overlay needs to be locked so it doesn’t also move vertically (showing chapter selection). Right now there is no vertical scroll lock.

And the playback end screen has no way to exit naturally. The only way to go back to the content or my library is by restarting playback and exiting from there or to close the app entirely, which is not a good navigation experience

Also, search shows “popular searches” including results that are provided from plex media sources even though I have all of these sources disabled. Once I begin typing, this fixes itself and only provides results from my server, but my preferences should be respected across all devices and displaying plex-provided content as default goes against that

The Merge Recently Added setting doesn’t seem to be working. My “TV shows” and “anime” library are split on the Home Screen.

On Android, the video resizes (smaller) when the user taps the screen to display the media control overlay during playback.

Feature request: The ability to change mobile screen brightness directly during video playback using gestures. I don’t believe this is something that’s currently available in the legacy app, but it’s certainly something I would expect from this type of redesign.

Its not saving last view in library, so everytime i switch back its going to the recommended and not the list of full library, adding to slower navigation. zero fast scrolling so if you want to get to end of the alphabet it could take a long time of scrolling

Interesting, I’m not having any issues with Local Extras on films or TV Show (season and episode level).

Are you naming with the “-featurette” style tags, or using extra folders?

FYI, there is a little X in the top right of the player that you can bring up to exit back to the media screen.

I am using the featurette folder structure that plex approves— they are named correctly. Here are screenshots comparing the preview and public apps, server is on latest in the public channel.

I have also noticed that some movies aren’t displaying critic reviews and cast info on the preview app when that data should be present. This info does display for some movies so I’m not sure what is causing that. Seems to be random but I haven’t really dug into it.

Edit: comparing these screenshots also made me realize quality badges/info are missing from the content view page/modal. I have to play the content to see what resolution it is

That is during playback, but post-playback there is no way to exit. First pic is the public app, second is preview. Preview app is missing that button in the top-left corner that brings you back to the content page

Got it, thanks.

Thanks for the screenshots. From what I’m seeing, local extras a now listed below “Ratings and Reviews”

One thing I’ll note is that I typically use the hyphen naming convention vs folders for extras, maybe that has something to do with it?

I can’t see any of the posters, for any library

Any way we can change the localization? The film is called Airplane in the US but I get the attached image.

I am having the issue where watchlist filters are not saved and reset everytime you click on the watchlist. So whenever you set filters they just reset if you exit the watchlist or click on recommened and go back to “My Watchlist”

I’m seeing the same localization issue for Logos.

They moved, but they are still not showing up at all for some movies (like Fast Five in the screenshot). It’s just movie, description, collection(s), and related movies/more with ___.

It might have something to do with the folder structure vs file naming. I can test that tomorrow.

I’m not able to get Logos to work with any personal media at all, is there any additional steps required?

I just hit the “Next episode” button on the playback controls at the end of an episode and it took me to the next episode, but at the timestamp I was at on the last episode. So I went from e.g. Ep 17 22:05 to Ep 18 22:05.

Also, there doesn’t appear to be an option to watch in portrait. Before anyone lynches me, I normally watch in landscape but I can’t always hold my phone in landscape and sometimes I watch for brief periods in portrait. It’s not a big deal, but something the old one had that the new one doesn’t.

Same for me. Only works if I enable online sources for movies and tv shows and then it’s ONLY for those items. Cannot get the clear/logo art to show up for any content in my media library at all. Using official “new” plex agents. I’m guessing this will be resolved when they become selectable on the server, but I’d like to know why it’s working for some users and not others

I’m having this same issue - some TV shows work and others just display a dark screen with a loading spinner that disappears.

I also can’t access collections from the “Collections” tab in TV Shows and Movies - the collections show but tapping on them does nothing. A long press will allow you watch or mark as watch.
