I know this doesn’t seem to be for everyone, but my collections aren’t showing any posters. They show fine in the normal app though.
Hi STWallman,
It looks like in the screenshot that you are on a cellular connection. Does this also happen when you’re on the same network as the plex server? There have been reports of connection loss and data not loading correctly on cellular connections.
FYI, Live OTA TV support has been added to Preview 5 (796). Users need to swipe over to their DVR, which is currently listed off screen to the right. Plex’s On Demand live channels take priority and it doesn’t look to be customizable at this time.
Personal media does not appear on the “Home Page” in build 796 (Preview 5) on iOS.
Proper tone mapping of DV/HDR content when transcoding looks to have been fixed in Preview 5 when transcoding to SDR.
The issue with marking items watched/unwatched from the library pages and the icons not refreshing has returned in Preview 5.
The issue when using the HEVC Transcode Preview server and forcing a transcode, and UHD DV HDR media was transcoding to H264 instead of HEVC appears to be resolved in Preview 5 as media is transcoding to SDR HEVC.
On the latest build, Preview 5, for some reason media is obnoxiously quiet on iOS. iPhone 15 Plus. Rolling back to Preview 4 fixes it. It is like it is using the speakers in phone call mode rather than just usual playback mode.
What codec is the audio media?
EAC3 5.1
But also happens AAC 5.1, AAC 7.1
Thanks, I’ll add it to the tracker
Can someone @ Plex confirm if logos and background shall be visible on a iPad, for me I see them only on the iPhone.
Rotate your iPad to portrait, then rotate it back to landscape, and then the logos and backgrounds will show up. Plex team has already stated that they aren’t yet focusing on the tablet experience, so it’s gonna be buggy for a while.
EDIT: this only works on 11" iPads or smaller or 13" iPads with display zoom enabled, since it’s doing dynamic layout changes based on screen-width
Hi @gksjohn can you provide some more details on which series you have that is not matched?
@dklein does this same behaviour also occur with the normal iOS app?
@chrisallen, no, FLAC stereo audio direct play in the normal app and it looks like it may have been resolved in the latest Preview build (I just did a quick test).
Any series that is not on a database, such as obscure TV show or certain cartoons/animations.
Even though my library is sorted as per the Plex guidelines, the new app will only display Season 00 or Season 01 of a non-matched series, there is no toggle to change Seasons.
Current stable Plex will display the different seasons regardless of whether a series is matched or not, the new experience app will not.
Adding @Manujito’s bug of transparent subtitles… see BUG: transparent subtitles
I noticed that on tvOS, the new app can’t play 4K HDR properly on some titles. The tone mapping doesn’t work correctly and is all yellow.
Plus the iOS app is so slow and laggy.
Also volume of some content is very quiet.
Plex iOS app is buffering frequently for many titles sent via “Direct Play” (no transcoding). My phone is connected to my 5GHz Wi-Fi network at home.
The same titles played in the current Plex app—even version 8.45 (9684) in TestFlight—will start playing immediately, can be scrubbed with excellent response times, and exhibit no buffering / spinning rings.
