Current state of Airplay support

I searched the forums, but still have not found a definitive answer on the AirPlay support for RasPlex.
As i understand, there are 3 modes for AirPlay: (a) Audio only, (b) Audio/Video and (c) Screen Mirroring. So far my understanding is as follows: (a) works without problems, (c) won't be available ever due to the fact that the protocol can't be reverse engineered, and (b) is unclear.

For me (on 0.4.0-rc1), video streaming works occasionally, and i was not able to pinpoint exactly under what conditions it works. I updated to rc2 yesterday, but did not see any improvement in my limited testing, if anything, I was not able to get a video stream up at all.
Unfortunately, all my devices are iOS7, so I don't know if it works for earlier versions.

If the devs or experienced users can clarify what the current state is, that'd be very helpful.

I am able to play video via AirPlay to my Pi, 0.4.0 rc2 and iOS 7.1

At first it didn't work, but then disabling and then enabling AirPlay functionality fixed that.

Actually, I take that back. RC2 seems to have broken AirPlay video support again.

Airplay has been broken (or rather, only working as a video target inconsistently, the rest of the time only working for audio) since iOS7 was released. This is not an issue that is specific to Rasplex, its also present in the various upstream projects that Rasplex depends on.

The issue has been fixed in XBMC Gotham beta 3, and that fix has made it as far down the project stack as OpenELEC (which Rasplex runs on), specifically its been present since OpenELEC 4.0 beta 2.

So once Rasplex is based upon a recent enough version of OpenELEC, we should get the Airplay fix. I don't know whether the Rasplex devs take beta versions of the upstream projects, or whether they wait for stable releases. Either way, Until then, its just a case of sitting tight :)

Oh I don't know. Other apps (AirServer) offer screen mirroring, so we can hold out hope.

Thanks, this is super helpful. I had 3 frustrating hours over the weekend trying to troubleshoot the issue, but got absolutely nowhere. What's the current version of OpenELEC in 0.4-rc? And is there any indication of when the fix will finally propagate to rasplex?
