Here is the scenario:
I have created custom posters for my home videos. The custom posters show up in Plex on the PC but when accessing Plex through my Roku the Custom Posters are not shown. Instead the “Background” selected picture is shown (Only on the TV through Roku). If I replace the “Background” picture with the Custom Poster it will then show on the TV. Has anyone else experienced this problem?, and if so how did you fix it. I’m at my wits end. Thanks for your help.
I found this reply from 2015 on the Plex forum. So I am going to try and reassign the folder to “Movies” instead of “Home Movies”. This way when Plex fails to find the movie, I can manually edit the info to my liking with a separate “Poster” and “Background” image, instead of “Home Movies” defaulting to the “Background” image for both. I will try it tomorrow and post a reply with the results.
That is correct. It is expected that Home Videos would not have a movie style poster but may have a screenshot to help identify the video. Therefore, a widescreen image is used. Instead of redefining a poster to make it widescreen, the background image is used instead. There is no way to show the poster when using the Home Video library.
