Custom Metadata Agent

I am hoping somebody can point me in the right direction.

I know that a sports agent is hard to come by, but i really don't need something that advanced. I really would just like to find a agent that reads the name and then based on keywords assigns pre defined fan art and changes the name to something friendly.

For example:

Under my sports section i have:

  • Soccer
  • Football
  • Australian Football
  • Ultimate Fighter
  • Rugby
  • Hockey

Each of the content will contain the type of sport with a relevant tag:

  • EPL
  • AFL
  • NFL
  • NHL
  • UFC
  • Rugby

along with who the match is between.

I'd really just like to scan the content name e.g. EPL.2013.09.28.Swansea.City.Vs.Arsenal for the tag EPL then set predenfined information.

Just give it a Soccer category/poster/background and change the name from EPL.2013.09.28.Swansea.City.Vs.Arsenal to Swansea City Vs Arsenal

Is this possible? Is their something that is out there now that i could modify to meet my needs? Can somebody point me in the right direction to start such a thing?

Thank you.

Hmm a very futile effort from me, i can't seem to wrap my head around this. I have tried looking at other meta agents but they are way to advanced and complex for my needs.

Here's a rudimentary Scanner and Metadata Agent that I came up with to do what you're asking for. It relies on the structure being
 something like

Sports/
     Soccer/
          EPL.2013.09.28.Swansea.City.Vs.Arsenal.mp4
          EPL.2013.07.28.Sunderland.Vs.Machester.United.mp4
     Football/
          NFL.2013.10.03.Bills.Vs.Browns.mp4
          NFL.2013.10.07.Jets.Vs.Falcons.mp4

etc...

It's really rudimentary, it doesn't do the images, and it relies on that structure, but you should be able to edit it for your needs without too much trouble. If you have any questions or other requests, let me know.

This works pretty well! The only issue i seem to have is the names of the "episodes" are the dates rather than the teams playing and the date.

Even works well with names like: West Bromwich Albion Vs Arsenal - 2013-10-06.mkv just again episode names are dates.

Interesting. Can't seem to reproduce this. Can you attach a few screenshots of your folder/file structure and what it looks like in Plex?

OK, I think I fixed it. Try this:

CustomSports.zip (90.3 KB)

Hmm.. i tried this and it didn't seem to work either. Still just shows dates for the episode names.

OK, I made some changes that I think should fix most of the issues. If it's still not working, make sure that your Sports section is using both the Custom Sports agent as well as the CustomSports scanner (not the default Plex Series Scanner) . If it still doesn't work after that, I'm not sure what else could be causing the problem.

Perfect, thank you very much!

I've got a ton of Football games as well, what do you do with these files?

Would like to know this myself, i download a lot of football (soccer) games and would love to have plex setup for it.

Unpack the latest zip in that folder. Restart Plex.
