I’m asking for a way to add additional tags so shows covering the same topic can be grouped together and watched. 20/20, Dateline, 48 Hours, etc, have a tendency to cover the same topics/people with their news programs. I’m watching a 20/20 episode that covers the father who locked a social worker out and blew himself up with his young kids. This has been covered many many times but I’d like to group them together.
Collections?
No, because you don’t know someone else is covering. A Subject tag for news programs like 20/20, Dateline, etc would solve the issue. Then you can build playlists based on subject.
Think of how often the kidnapping of that little girl Ramsey has been covered. I want to go in and tell Plex to play everything regarding Jon Ramsey.
Why not create a collection named Jon Ramsey and put everything related to him there and give it a personalized cover to the collection?
As for additional keywording / tagging… there’s an existing suggestion covering this
Even one to allow timestamped tagging if you want to highlight what segment of a news show covered that topic
You can now also create “smart collections” from the (new) advanced filter (e.g. using a custom tag you assigned to those episodes).
This requires PMS 1.22.3 and Plex Web 4.56.3 (currently only available in the hosted web app) or Plex for Mac/Windows 1.31.0.
