My files system for both Magnum P. I. series is exactly like I posted just above with the naming:
For the earlier show the folder is named:
“Magnum P I” with no punctuation or date info at all
The files are like:
“Magnum PI - s01e03 - China Doll.mp4” Again no date or punctuation except as shown.
For the current show the folder is:
“Magnum P.I. (2018)” with the punctuation and date as shown.
and the files are:
“Magnum P.I. - s01e02 - From the Head Down.mp4”
Also all my season folder use two digit indicators like:
“Season 01”
I have absolutely no problems with matching.
It should also be noted that I move “Local media assets” below everything else in all my agents to prevent embedded metadata from screwing things up.
When you change anything to fix a match it is a good idea to “Plex dance” the files involved:
1 - Move the media to where Plex cannot see it
2 - Refresh the library
3 - Empty Trash
4 - Clean bundles
5 - Move the series back
6 - Refresh the library
Perform all steps in order and allow each one to finish before starting the next.
