Dates before 1900 are rejected

Server Version#: Version 1.23.3.4707
Player Version#: Version 1.33.0.2444-a220eae4

When entering metadata for audiobooks OR movies, if the date is prior to 1900-01-01, the metadata dialog reports the error:

“Your changes could not be saved.”

I have a number of audio books that were “Originally available” back in the 1800s, and I have to have incorrect metadata.

I cannot reproduce this… when testing this on my server, Plex immediately let me set dates in 1890 etc. (PMS 1.23.3.4712, macOS 11.4). This worked for me using Plex Web (https://app.plex.tv/desktop) or the desktop client on my Mac. Working the same for movies or albums.

I haven’t seen any references about an issue fixed with the latest beta – so I’m not sure if updating to .4712 will fix this for you.
Does this issue persist if you restart your server?

Wow, what audiobook is that? I didn’t think audiobooks existed until the mid 1900s.

Anyways, I’m also unable to reproduce. I can set dates earlier than 1900 without a problem.

The books that are being read are.

Original Date (like Original Artist, Original Album, etc) refers the date when the original work was released, it doesn’t refer to when this recording was first released - that’s covered under the Release Date field. Or at least, that’s how the tag specs are written, it could be that Plex uses a different definition.

In Plex, Originally Available = Release Date

We don’t have an Original Date.
