I have a file named Deadpool-2.2018.Super.Duper.Cut.UHD.2160p.Bluray.Remux.Atmos.7.1-DTOne.mkv. Plex Movies Scanner keeps matching this to “Once Upon A Deadpool”. I even tried doing a manual match using imdb-tt5463162, and it still insists on calling it “Once Upon A Deadpool”. (Once Upon A Deadpool is imdb-tt31050020, and whilst based on Deadpool 2, it’s not Deadpool 2).
“Deadpool 2” doesn’t appear as an option for a match.
If you include the release year in the file name (you should), always enclose it in parentheses.
If you include extra information in the file name (cut info if not using editions, resolution, source, etc.) always enclose it in square brackets so that Plex will ignore it for matching purposes.
You probably want to avoid placing dashes or other characters in the file name where they are not actually included in the title. Most (all?) modern filesystems support spaces in file names, though you may need to quote them if working with them on the command-line.
It’s considered best practice to have a folder per-movie. This can help with scanning times and also makes organizing extras easier.
So, in fact, it is matching the movie as “Deadpool 2”, but it’s showing the artwork for “Once Upon A Deadpool”, just like you got. I’d hadn’t noticed that the name under the artwork was correct. So thank you for that.
I was able to work out how to change the poster – I didn’t realise that could be done.
