Hello,
As discussed in the thread Hardware Acceleration and Intel Atom X5-Z8350 , it appears that the plex user is not added to the “render” group during install on Debian Buster distributions.
This is needed to enable HW transcode.
I think this should be done by the installer, hence this thread.
If you need more information, please let me know.

It is already part of the new installer that is waiting for release.
New Plex Media Server packaging (installer) for Linux.

FYI folks,
When the new Transcoder comes out, I’m going to spin an updated Debian package too with the new installer in it.
Everything will be on par.
A few days ago I installed Plex on a Debian VM - it worked ok but had some trouble more with Debian than Plex.
Tried Ubuntu Server - works better and less overhead.
just my $0.02 worth the cost to get it

Cost? Plex is free. Debian is free.
