Deleted Library, can't reupload content

I am new to plex, and when I got my server I immediately created a library with tons of tv episodes and new movies. It was very disorganized so I deleted the library to start from square one, but now when I try to create a new library it will not add the same episodes. I select the folder in my files to add the content, and the plex library just shows up completely empty! How do I make them appear again? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am having a deleted library issue is well. I am new to plex and as soon as I got it, I uploaded a lot of things to it, tv episodes, movies, etc, but it was very disorganized, so I deleted it to start again. But now when I try to create a new library and add the same folders, nothing is added to plex, the library stays empty! Help please?

Let’s not hijack that other post… those issues are not necessarily related and we want to avoid complete confusion.

Can you tell me what exactly you’ve done?
From the reading of your pot it sounds as if you have manually deleted the individual files in that library – not the actual library.

Here’s a description on how to actually delete a library:

In theory you can add a folder to multiple libraries with the videos in that folder showing up in all of them. However that doesn’t seem to be a use case to dig into

If your library stays empty, it’s more likely because something won’t add up. Plex will e.g. ignore files that don’t match the naming schema of a tv shows in a tv show library (or ignore files following a tv show naming schema from movie libraries).
So when you add create a new library… make sure to only add a folder that contains the adequate media for that type of library

MOD Edit: merging the posts from various locations

Apologies for post confusion.

Basically I made one library folder for a series of tv shows. I’ve seen plex used by friends before and how it did a good job of organizing things. I added my folder of my tv series’ from my computer files, and they began to appear in plex, some nice and organized, some episodes all over the place, etc. I decided to deleted the library and just make different ones for the individual shows. Since deleting it, I cannot reupload any of the content. I go through the steps to make a new library, add a file from my computer, and the library is immediately set up, completely empty.

Essentially, the episodes uploaded the first time, if somewhat disjointedly. Now they are gone, and do not appear when reuploading is attempted.

When it comes to tv shows, Plex can be particularly picky.
You’ll need to make sure to properly structure and name your files for Plex to recognize them. There’s a recommended naming schema… make sure not to miss or add any folder levels when organizing your shows and linking them to Plex.

The structure is supposed to look like this:

TV Shows <- the folder linked to your Plex TV Show library
   Game of Thrones
      Season 01
         Game of Thrones - s01e01 - Winter is Coming.ext
         Game of Thrones - s01e02.ext
         ...
         Game of Thrones - s01e10.ext

   Show Name
      Season XX
Show Name - sXXeYY - optional episode title.ext

where XX is the season number and YY is the episode number within that season; .ext being the file extension.
You can include an optional episode title after the sXXeYY section – however that will be ignored by Plex.

If you point your Plex library directly to a show’s folder, Plex will mess things up or show nothing at all.
