Deleted Media Server from Account, Cannot Add Back

Server Version N/A:
Player Version 4.72.0:

Good evening fellow Plexers. I had an issue with a plex library, and somehow ended up deleting my plex media server from my account. After fooling around for several hours, I opened a new account, and moved on. I am coming back to the issue now though, as I want to understand what I am doing wrong. I will try to explain the best I can.

Had some issues with a library and deleted the media server from ACCOUNT_1.
On my left hand side menu I just have a “+ YOUR MEDIA”
If I click on the “+” it takes me to the Media Server download page
Download media server
Have tried both repair and uninstall/install options
Reboots
No change

SAME COMPUTER
Log into ACCOUNT_2
Everything looks perfect
ACCOUNT_2 is logged on another computer that is running the actual Plex setup and hard drives are connected to that PC, so I can work in a test environment.

It seems to be an issue with the account of ACCOUNT_1 not allowing me to add a media server back to it. I have tried on multiple systems, and multiple browsers but seem to be stuck. I have watched numerous videos on adding a media server, but most of them are focused on new accounts, and not ones where the server was deleted. I have not messed with any registry entries, because ACCOUNT__2 is not having the same issue, so I figured it was account related.

Thanks for any insight or help.

I would give this a try. Sounds like the server is claimed by account2

A Plex Media Server can be owned and managed by just one account.

If one account owns the server, then a second account cannot manage it, even if the second account is logged in on the system running the server.

If you wish to switch the owner of the server, it must first be unclaimed by the current owner, then re-claimed by the desired owner.

If I read things correctly, your server is currently claimed by Account_2 and you wish to change it to Account_1. Also, when using Account_2, you can access the server settings.

The claiming process should be performed on the same system running Plex Media Server or from a system on the same network. It should not be performed over a remote connection, VPN, etc (technically it can be done, requiring an SSH tunnel to first be in place).

  1. Using a browser signed into app.plex.tv with Account_2.
    a) Go to Settings → Server_Name → General. It should say “Server signed in as…” with your account name or e-mail address. Click the Sign Out button.
    b) Go to Settings → Authorized Devices, and filter for Server (link). If you see your server listed, click the red X to remove it from your account.
    c) Sign out of the Plex account (upper right corner, Account → Sign Out).

The server is now in an unclaimed state.

  1. To claim the server, use an incognito/private browser window.
If you are on the system running PMS, point the browser at http://127.0.0.1:32400/web or http://localhost:32400/web.
If you are on a different system, point the browser at the IP address of the system running PMS, http://server_real_ip_address:32400/web, substituting the actual IP address of the server.
Note that the URLs use http, not https.

You should see a page to login to the Plex Media Server. You may see a message such as “this app is not hosted at plex.tv…” That is OK. It means you are logging directly into the server, not via plex.tv.

Login using the account you wish to own and manage the server.

After you are logged in, go to Settings → Server_Name → General. You should see a message that the server is in an unclaimed state. Claim it.

You should now be able to login and manage the server using the desired account.

The server cannot be managed by any other account.

If you want another account to be able to access the server, then share the desired libraries with that account. See Plex Documentation → Remote Access & User Sharing for information on sharing libraries.

I bow before your plexiness! That worked. Going to http://localhost:32400/web seemed to grab it and put the server under ACCOUNT_1. I appreciate it!
