Description:
I lost access to the plex pass account that manages my local plex server. I still have access to another account that was shared some library access, but not all libraries. I’ve attempted to reclaim the server with that account but with no success. I’ve also tried running this script but was not able to reclaim the server.
Based on my troubleshooting so far, it looks like my Plex Media Server is in “claimed but orphaned” state.
Evidence:
• PMS reports claimed=1 via /identity even after removing Preferences.xml, clearing tokens, and restarting PMS.
• The server does not appear in Plex Web; only public Plex content is visible.
• Local access (http://:32400/web) works but cannot attach the server to my account.
• Re-claim via claim token does not change state.
Are you able to please reset / detach the server record for the machineIdentifier below so it can be reclaimed.
Server info:
• Platform: Synology DS918+
• DSM: 6.2.4-25556 Update 7
• Plex Media Server: 1.42.2.10156
Thanks

When I initially tried claiming the server via plex.tv/claim I was able to see some of my existing local libraries but still had no rights (no soup). While troubleshooting, I upgraded from 1.18.5 to 1.42.2.
I was able to successfully run this script (see below), however, when I log in I still don’t see any local libraries and I should still have at least 1 shared with this less privileged account. I do see under manage library access this account does still have access to 1 library. I updated my main plex pass account a few months ago and enabled MFA + saved the emergency codes. For some reason both MFA and the emergency codes do not work, however, I still have access to the e-mail account associated with that plex pass admin account.
After re-claiming the server, in theory shouldn’t I have access to at least the old library that was shared previously? Is there anyway to regain access to that plex pass admin account or regain access to the libraries it setup?
At this point, I’ve been perusing the existing database (I also have some backup copies) and since I’m locked out of my main admin account it almost seems better to try and restore some of my data via that database backup. Unless there is a way for me to recover access to the other libraries setup by my main account..

So at the moment I don’t see any local libraries in Plex, only public Plex content. I’m connected through nasIPAddress:32400/web. Under Plex Home I’m listed as a Home Admin but under Manage Library Access all I see is that I have access to 1 library (presumably shared from my inaccessible plex pass account). Not sure if that orphaned server is causing issues. I think that should be fine to remove the ‘share’ status to this account from that other server, particularly if that may give me more visibility to this ‘nas’ instance.
I pinged billing support and will follow up with them to try and get that plex pass subscription moved. I appreciate the help.
At this point, Restart/Reload the Plex/web browser.
You’ll see only this server. Nothing else will be shared into it.
If you have the other shared library from your other account, it will be gone or obviously not available (orange triangle)
At this point, you can Unpin it and use the server locally with this account in full control.
Thanks ChuckPa, I really appreciate it! That has actually fixed the issue of my old libraries being inaccessible. I was able to login with the account I have access to and view/manage those old libraries again. I’ll follow up with billing support about migrating my plex pass to this account. I think this issue can be closed out now. Thanks again for your help.
