Deleted media still showing up and unable to delete entry in PMS

Guys,

I am coming to you as I have been unable to fix this issue.
I just recently started to classify my music.
I created two premium music libraries.
One for the typical music, and one for the Original Soundtrack.
I added one album to the Original Soundtrack and then realized that some of the tags of the mp3 files were not correct.
I then moved the folder of the album away from the folder, corrected the tags.
I updated the libraries for it to scan and show that no album were in the library and to my surprise, it it still showing.
I have been unable to remove this entry for the library.
Can anybody tell me what to do ?
I can provide any logs requested.

Update.
The PMS update 0.9.12.16 fixed it but I had to put the media back, rescan, and remove it again.

While its been said many times, and many ways  Plex does not like empty folders.

Even a single empty folder in a given Plex Library will prevent Plex from removing replaced/obsolete/deleted items (Movies, TV Shows, Music etc) from that entire library. So if you have replaced and/or removed media at the OS file system level, and Plex refuses to remove that item (even Empty Trash will not work), check the Plex Library folder list for empty (or obsolete) folders.

For example, I had several folders from different Hard Drives listed in my “TV Series” Library. After struggling with this issue for a week, I realized that ONE of the folders listed in my “TV Series” Library was in fact empty - one which I had initially added to the Library for future expansion purposes on a new hard drive.

For the affected Library:
Go to Options/Edit Library/Add Folders … and check EACH folder in the list for content and either remove the empty ones or place a dummy file in that folder(s).

Thanks for explaining this in greater detail! I’ve been having this problem for weeks and it’s been driving me crazy. I’ve done everything out there and saw plenty of postings about “empty folders”, but none of the ones that I saw defined that the empty folders were actually ones added to the specific libraries. I was searching for empty folders in my drive’s folder structure and (of course) not finding any. I found that two folders had been added (by Plex during a reinstall, not by me) to my movies and my TV shows, and once I removed them all my deleted media was finally taken care of.

Thanks!

I guess you missed this support article. https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/201447966-Why-does-content-I-deleted-on-my-drive-still-show-up-

I have a similar problem, content that I deleted from disk (files & folders) still appears in the library.

Because the library doesn’t remove content simply because it doesn’t see it anymore in case that location is only temporarily unavailable (like a Network connection lost)

Ah ok, thanks AsphyxNYC, I allways delete de files and then it was deleted from the library, but not anymore.

Any idea how can I make it disapear from the library?

UPDATE: I just found another potential root cause for this issue.

Look for “.plexignore” files in each of the folders listed for that Library. Open each “.plexignore” file and make sure it too does not contain any obsolete entries (such as deleted folders) since that too will prevent Plex from removing obsolete items from that library.

I am 100% certain that I made the go problem away when I found and deleted one such offending “.plexignore” file.

I’d be interested in a set of error logs if you ran into this ^^^ issue.
It’d help to fix this issue in the scanner.

This fixed the issue for me. i deleted the obsolete entriens in my .plexignore and Plex finally started marking missing items right and removing them.

This fixed me too!! Thanks!

Thank you so much! This worked perfectly. Apparently Plex automatically added some default folders that didnt even exist to my library and cause the issue
