[Solved] PMS 1.6.1 - Music library & TV Show library refresh

I have one music library with one single folder. That folder has many sub-folders. I’ve removed some of them and performed a plex dance, but even so they appear in the catalog. The same happens with the TV Shows library. Movie libraries are Ok.

When I ask “Get Info” of deleted music / TV Shows it says that the file is unavailable (as it should), but the fact is that metadata was not deleted by the plex dance.

Can you provide specific examples? Having music and TV shows in a sub-folder are not recommended. The names of the Show or Artist needs to be at the root of the folder the library points to. If you want subfolders, you need to change your library to point to each individual subfolder and not the main one.

If you did the Plex Dance properly, the music/show shouldn’t be listed as unavailable. The point of the dance is to fix that.

Hi @“MovieFan.Plex” thanks. I have separate libraries, and separate folders, whose structure is Ok. Here is music:

And here is TV Series

If I create a new Music library with the same folder it creates Ok. I attach logs taken after:

  1. Emptying the whole folder
  2. Making a library refresh (that was very fast, and no trash symbols were created)

When Plex sees an empty library folder “Musica” in your example, Plex cannot tell the difference between the folder being empty and the folder being disconnected (unmounted). Therefore, Plex ignores the folder and does nothing, just in case it is unmounted. This way, when the drive is re-mounted, your library will not be affected. So, instead of deleting everything under “Musica” leave at least 1 file. It doesn’t matter what file, even a text file. As long as the folder is not totally empty, PMS will not ignore the folder but will remove all the entries from it’s database.

It is a different behaviour from Movies folders, where if I delete all files each existing thumbnail is overlaid by the trash symbol. Music folders work as you say, I must leave some folders inside the main folder so that plex tags the missing albums as trash.

Thanks a lot @“MovieFan.Plex”

It should be the same. Are you sure you deleted all files from the Movie folder? There may be hidden files or something else keeping the folder from appearing as being totally empty.

Checked again with WINSCP and there is one hidden file in my Movies folder. That explains.

Thaks a lot.

Hehe. Glad you found it.
