Deleting a single TV show now deletes the entire season folder and/or title folder from server

I’m currently using PMS v1.4.2.3200 with the Roku 4.3.2 Preview build. The issue I’m seeing has occured since at least the Roku 4.3.0 Release…

After finishing watching a TV show and choosing to delete it, instead of just the single TV episode being deleted from the server, either the entire season folder will be deleted or the entire TV show folder will be deleted depending on the folder structure on the server.

Specifically: If the TV show is the only item in the season folder and that’s the only folder in the TV show folder, then when you delete the TV show via the Roku Plex app the entire TV show folder gets deleted from the PMS server. If the TV show is in a season folder and prior season folders exist in the TV show folder, then deleting the single episode will delete the entire season folder and leave the previous season folders intact as well as the TV show folder.

With previous builds of PMS and the Roku app, you could just delete the single episode and all folders stayed in tact on the server. That doesn’t seem to be the case any more.

I apologize if this is an intedend feature and part of a new functionality I’m not aware of, but for now it’s very annoying to have to re-create a new top-level folder for say “The Big Bang Theory” then a new “S12” folder after deleting the one episode that was in it. With previous builds I could just delete one episode and the folders would remain.

Anyone else notice this or can help me with avoiding this?

I’m seeing the same thing. Not sure when this started. Currently running PMS 1.4.2.3400 on Linux with an AppleTV as the client app.

I believe this is from the DVR Build merger as folder deletion began in the DVR Build.
But I will check with the Devs to make sure

Thank you edgauthier and hthighway for your posts, glad to know I’m not going crazy! In an attempt to avoid confusion (or possibly add to it) I’m not sure if this change is due to the Roku client app or the PMS. I know the issue occurs w/PMS 1.4.2.3200 and the previous 1.4.1.3362 build.

If this is a PMS issue rather than a Roku client issue, please accept my apologies and any mods are free to remove or relocate this post as necessary.

If you go to episode you want to delete, click the three dots on the right in episode graphic. Select Delete Episode.

Unfortunately your suggestion does not work for me. From the client, when clicking the 3 dots next to the individual episode the options are: Go to show, Go to Season XX, and Got to TV Shows. There is no Delete Episode option.

Just below the individual episode is the the trash can icon to delete the episode, however as previously mentioned this will delete the entire season folder and sometimes TV show folder.

I agree there should be an option as to whether to delete the directory when the last show is removed. I too use the empty folders as placeholders for shows I watch and want to get new episodes for.
