Detect intros for new files only

Server Version#: Version 1.22.0.4163
Player Version#: Version 4.51.3

Hello,

I have a big library and plex have been detecting intros in my library for some months now.

Is there a way to enable detect intros feature for only newly added files?

I thought enabling this feature with “As a scheduled task and when media is added” will detect intros only during allowed scheduled task times and new media files (“Time at which tasks start to run” and “Time at which tasks stop running”, if set to 3a.m-5 a.m intervals for ex). But it’s always running on my server

I think this has to do with Detect intros not working and getting stuck with newer versions of PMS (I also posted about it here: Detecting intros taking forever since 1.22.2.4282).

When the feature works, it should only take a couple seconds per episode similar to scanning.

In my case, it’s not getting stuck and it’s actually detecting the intros. I have 200k+ episodes in my library and it takes longer than a couple of seconds to scan an episode.

I have the same issue and just came here to post. I am hoping someone can chime in.

Currently there is no way to just enable this for new content. It’s an all or nothing kinda deal.

From a timing perspective I’ve approx 35k episodes in my library and with a scheduled task from midnight to 7am it took approx 7 days to fully complete intro detection. But this will be dependant on the the speed of of your system and anything else running at the same time. It’s a very intensive operation.

So I’d recommend increasing the length of your maintenance window and just let it do its stuff until done.
