First, download ffmpeg(it’s free) then extract ffmpeg to a folder. Create a Windows batch file(bat/cmd extension) in the same folder as ffmpeg and copy and save the below code…
ffmpeg.exe -v error -i "%~1" -f null -
PAUSE
Now drag the media file ontop of the Windows batch file you just created.
It will scan and display in real time most errors found.
Just wanted to throw my hat into the ring - I’m currently having an issue where Plex also gets stuck on seemingly random seasons in the overnight schedule.
However, this is causing wider issues which cause my NFS share to lock up in Unraid and make other containers completely unresponsive as Plex never STOPS trying when it seems to get stuck.
In addition, I cannot play any content which is stored on my NAS as Plex is causing that connection to completely lock-up. I can access the NAS fine from my Windows machine right now, but on the server it’s completely frozen.
This is a real problem guys, please can a developer look into this?
I have/Had the same thing. This is what I did, to get it to stop today. Hope it continues to work. Open Plex Web App Go to Settings > Server > Library Set the Generate intro video markers setting as NEVER. Then I stopped the server a minute, and restarted. That stopped it for now, and hopefully the future.
My Plex started doing this in the last couple of days. Not just one season but any season and different shows. Tried the tips here to no avail. I read from another post a person ultimately just restarted his whole Synology server and it started working again. I’m running on unRaid but i thought i’d give it a go, so i restarted my server and it suddenly works again…
Jumped the gun a bit. Turns out there were still some issues with the same tv shows as earlier. Now it started searching for intros without any progress again. I checked the log, and it was spamming issues with the EasyAudioEncoder (EAE timeout! EAE not running, or wrong folder?). I shut down plex, deleted the EAE folder in codecs and voila, it finally finished detecting the last intros with no trouble at all.
This is the 2nd time i had to remove EAE from codecs. The last time i did it was a different problem. Some (around 5-10%) of my movies wouldnt start streaming. It just showed the loading circle forever and never started. At the time i tried troubleshooting via these forums for hours on end, and there were the usual fixes like converting video files/containers and all kinds of complex tasks. Digging through all these threads i found one persons reply to delete EAE and after i did that ive had no trouble, and the files started streaming again.
I have no idea whats up with this codec, but it doesnt seem to make a difference if i remove it.
Can anyone tell me why i would need it? Now i’m nervous it will screw things up again in the future
I am having the same problem.
Server Version: 1.28.0.1681-cc6e807c (Synology Package from Plex.tv)
I am getting this issue too and it seems to only affect one season of a particular show.
Error messages look a lot like what others have mentioned here - some references to EAE3, EAE timeout, I/O error, etc.
Only way to stop the infinite loop thus far has been to restart the application.
No, I didn’t try your method. But I read your posts and assume that yours isn’t a permanent solution either. Personally, I’d rather schedule my plex server to restart after the scheduled task period as a temporary fix. God knows what a missing codec might do to Plex.
when you delete the folder plex will re-apply/re-download it (probably after a restart?). It’s very weird because it has same filesize but its seems to do the trick. And yeah i hope it will be permanent, cant say for sure. Last time i had trouble with the EAE was over half a year ago
Just FYI, I had the same problem. But after I stopped PMS and removed the EAE folders from Codecs and restarted PMS it successfully finished intro detection.
I’m still experiencing this, currently running 1.22.0.4163. I’ve been experiencing this since the feature was first introduced. Seems to be a singe season of a couple different series. No EAE. Has anybody found a solution short of disabling the scan?
Just started getting this issue after moving from bare metal to container Plex in VM. Removed the %EAE% folder and reran ‘analyse’ and it solved the issue. Thanks for the post @jensrobot.
this is still an issue, either fix the intro marker maker or remove it - your only saving grace is that it can be disabled, but it’s clearly too experimental to have as a default enabled option. Why does this need to be said PLEX?!? The idea that all input data >should be< perfect and therefore fault tolerance is unneeded, is absolutely asinine and dogmatic and results in pissing off your customers and yourself smearing your name, don’t be clowns.
