I have been using plex for a little bit now and some shows/movies don’t have this problem but many do.
I have the SteelSeries Arctis headset with Chat and Game audio channels/drivers. For most videos, the Chat audio channel will give me all the audio as either mono or stereo. The Game channel is capable of giving 7.1 surround sound but will only output the background audio of the video leaving the dialogue silent.
I have tried setting the advanced audio settings and for some videos it fixes it but for most others the issue persists. I have tried all the audio settings in every configuration I could see.
Any assistance on how to resolve this would be appreciated. And I can provide other information if it will help.
Personally, I very much doubt that you can feed more than 2 audio channels into this headphone.
Therefore, set the audio channels to 2.0 (stereo).
The method to use a multi-channel sound interface on Windows is this:
go into the advanced audio settings and set the number of speakers of a surround-capable sound interface to the speaker configuration you have available.
(Sorry, I have only a German language screen shot available, atm.)
Only after you did that, you then open the audio settings of the Plex app and set the audio interface type to “Basic”.
Then select the actual name of the sound interface, don’t use “Automatically selected”.
Then set the number of audio channels to the same number that you used in the Windows settings.
