subtitles are in the same file as the video and the audio stream(s). These are called “internal” or “embedded” subtitles.
Subtitles which are stored in a separate file. These are called “external” subtitles.
If a movie has both internal and external subtitles, the external subtitles are preferred in Plex. Simply because there is no point in adding external subtitles to a movie which already has perfectly good internal subtitles.
One would only do that, if the internal subtitles are defective or wrong. In which case the external subtitles are the obvious choice.
That makes sense. thx!
Do you know if there is a setting in the subzero settings that dont download any external subtitles if there already are subtitles in the video? Right now Subzero seems to be downloading subtitles even tho there are already good subtitles available for the video.
