Digimon Adventure: 2020 naming

Hi.

Does anyone know how I should be naming the new Digimon Adventure: 2020 show?
Digimon Adventure: (2020)

If I name the episode “Digimon Adventure - 01” then it throws the episode under the original season 1 of Digimon (1999).
If I name the episode “Digimon Adventure 2020 - 01” then it throws it under Digimon Adventures Tri Episode 1.

According to what I can see the show is called “Digimon Adventure:” but due to Windows naming, you can’t put a colon symbol in a file name, so I don’t know how to get this series to pick up the correct details.

Naming should look like this:

TV Shows  <- the folder linked in your Plex tv show library
  Digimon Adventure (2020)
    Season 01
      Digimon Adventure (2020) - s01e01 - Digital Crisis in Tokyo.ext
      Digimon Adventure (2020) - s01e02.ext  <- the episode title is optional and can be dropped
      ...
      Digimon Adventure (2020) - s01e04.ext

The show name should always be in line with how the show is named in TheTVDb.com – ignoring punctuation or special characters not supported by your OS (don’t replace them… just drop them…) – turning Digimon Adventure: (2020) into Digimon Adventure (2020). You can add the episode title or other information after the sXXeYY section… Plex will however completely ignore that – so unless you need it to find an episode in your file system… leave it out.

You also might want to familiarize yourself with Plex’ naming schema for tv shows. Simply naming an episode as Show Name - 01 will result in that file being ignored!

I tried it with the naming order as you suggested, but it just moves the episode under Digimon Adventures Tri again.

Anything else I might be missing?

Did you rename the files while they were still mapped inside Plex?
You might need to do a “Plex Dance”:

1. move the files outside the folder monitored by Plex
2. scan the library for updates and wait for it to complete
3. empty trash, clean bundles
4. return the files to their location (after correcting their names)
5. scan the library for updates again

The purpose of this is to remove all cached metadata and xml data for an item that Plex usually keeps. So to fix it I had to remove both folders from the searchable Plex folders and rescan so both of them didn’t show up in Plex.
Then I only readded Digimon Adventure: (2020). This still picked up Digimon adventures Tri, but at least I could then say fix match on the series. Took me a while to pick up the series with the search but finally got it right.

Once that was matched correctly I added back Digimon Adventures Tri and updated the Plex folder again.

Both are now showing up in the correctly in Plex.
