Server Version#: 1.21.4.4079
Player Version#: ?
Hi,
Hoping someone can help as I have been through the forum a few times and certainly found similar problems, but none of the proposed solutions seem to work for me.
System information: I built a HTPC which has 16GB Ram an I7 CPU and 2TB of storage for the DVD files I have copied and an NVIDIA Graphics Card. In addition I have 200mb Broadband via cable (which hasn’t changed in the period since the issues started)
I should also note that up to about 1yr ago everything worked just fine, I could play all of my media and receive the streams around the house in the native format i.e. 4k or 1080p and including the audio format as well i.e. 5.1 or even on a few 7.1. I was using mostly the Android player on my 65" Philips OLED TV. Everything has always been played (even when working ok) over WiFi (all devices connected to my home network get blistering speeds using Speedtest.net).
I have 2 issues:
I also now have an Apple 4K TV box, although the problem persists on that Plex App too, so it seems as if it is nothing to do with the devices at least.
1 - Each time I try to play a film regardless of format, I get messages saying that it cannot be direct played, or that “there isn’t enough bandwidth to play xyz, you have “xMb” and you need 2000Mb” (or something along those lines) and although it will play the media, it is always in 720 at best and even that is a poor rendering of the file. I have tried playing about with the settings on the server and the device apps, using the info found on these forums, but nothing seems to make any difference.
2 - I keep losing the remote access. This is a newish problem as far as I can tell; as I wasn’t getting any decent media I wasn’t using Plex much over the last year. I can connect, no problem there, but if I leave the “Remote Access” page it drops the connection, if I stay on the page it is fine?!?
I always update to latest version, and I have even uninstalled the server and reinstalled, but without any luck.
Some advice would be appreciated, otherwise I am just likely to drop Plex and try a different system.
PS If someone does propose submitting logs, can you also advise how I get them at a time when the problem is occurring? What I mean by that is, do I have to capture them at exactly the point the media is starting to play, or will the log capture from point of start until media is stopped? (Sorry, not great with the tech side of this stuff)
Thanks in advance
