Direct Play no longer working from outside LAN

Server Version#: 1.19.5.3112
Server Linux

Hi all,

For some time now, my Plex server stopped Direct Playing any videos outside my LAN. Same videos that even in the past were played absolutely fine (even on my previous broadband with slower upload speeds). As per log attached below, it says that available upload speed is 2000kbps (2Mbps) while in remote access settings I have it set to 25Mbps (and tried other speeds e.g. 10Mbps, 15Mbps etc). My actual upload speed is around 15Mbps. I’ve tried to change other settings also - to play maximum or original quality etc. It happens on same devices that direct played before I started having this problems (Firestick TV 4k, ipad and android phones). All played fine until sometime ago. It just transcodes every single time. All fine on my LAN (phones, tablets and fire stick 4K).

Anything else I can try?

Thanks

Sounds like there’s some problem with your remote access configuration that causes your connection to be relayed. Relayed/indirect connections are established through a server of Plex and limited to 1 Mbps (2 Mbps for Plex Pass members).

Thanks Tom,

It probably makes sense, it could have happened when I switched to different ISP and replaced the router. I just probably need to do a port forward. Thanks for pointing this out.

I have Plex pass hence the 2000 limit. I did think it must belated to something due to exact 2k limit.

I’ll play today with it and let you know the outcome.

Thanks

Thanks Tom,

That was it, when I switched to new ISP I’ve received new router. Just had to add port forward to it. Although it was confusing as in remote access it was saying it’s connected, perhaps wasn’t stating clearly enough that it won’t do Direct Play.

All working now.

Thanks
