Direct Play: Color Space Is Not Supported

Server Version#: Version 1.27.0.5849
Player Version#: tvOS 8.3 (2621)

When trying to play some DV video files, directly, I get the issue of:

"Could not direct play because: App cannot direct play this item. No direct play video profile exists for protocol http, with container mkv, and video codec hevc.

Could not transcode because: File is unplayable. Color space is not supported."

I am not sure why it is triggering this I have direct play on, and I am using the new video player which should support HEVC. I see this log:

Streaming Resource: Reached Decision id=102492 codes=(General=2000,Neither direct play nor conversion is available. Direct Play=3000,App cannot direct play this item. There are a few threads discussing this.

Color space is not supported error after updating to 1.25.5

Plex displays wrong colours with Dolby Vision on AppleTV 4k

TLDR:

Plex does not support transcoding of Dolby Vision Profile 5 video.

On supported Apple devices, Plex can Direct Play a file using the Apple decoder + player.

Compatible files must be MP4 and match Apple’s expectations (dvh1).

It is possible to remux and convert files.

Do I need to manually turn off the enhanced player or is Plex smart enough to know what it can’t handle? I theoretically could remux or convert but it’s a constant battle with these files.

Nope! Happens automatically.
