On some/most DolbyVision clips Plex displays “wrong” colours. Using the Tv’s Plex App the colours look right. Using TV+ on aTV shows correct colours as well, it is just the plex atv client.
This clip here: Download UHD Dolby Vision - On Off | Demolandia for example does not work properly on aTV 4k but works on the Sony Plex Client.
Here is how it looks on apple tv:

With the Infuse client on the same aTV Dolby Vision works with proper colours. Seems to be the aTV Plex Client.
It would be super nice if plex support could not just move my topic to another category but also respond to it, forward it to someone or it least acknowledge it. This is kind of frustrating.
Looking it you @ChuckPa 
Set your Apple TV to SDR 4K and Turn Match Dynamic Range and Match Frame Rate on. The Apple TV can only do profile 5 Dolby vision. Not the profile found on Blu-rays.
Does not work.
As I wrote, the file plays fine on aTV 4k with the infuse client.
I knew my ears were burning for a reason. 
Can you cut me a sample so I can work with it here and do a deep dive ?
Your DEBUG logs which capture your results would also help as it let’s me know I’m holding it right

plexserver.log needs DEBUG = ON. VERBOSE = OFF
com.plexapp.plex looks good
Otherwise, I see PMS jumping into transcoding of the DV stream.
That explains why the colors are incorrect. They’re the wrong colorspace.
Why it’s jumping into transcoding is the real question here.
I presume your TV can play DV ?
I assume you are looking at the incorrect timestamp and/or stream. There are multiple user on that server. At 03:55 around debug was on and the file was direct playing.

My TV can do DV yes, it also registered as DV and switched to DV mode. Other apps play the file just fine on the TV. (It’s a Sony XH92)

Redid the server log, you should have an easier time now finding the correct stream, it did direct play:

I have since given up on playing anything not SDR on Plex for ATV, I too use Infuse, works perfectly for DV and Dolby Atmos. Flawless.

I don’t think so. I’m still experiencing this with certain mouse-produced dolby vision profile 5 video files. Colors are messed up and green/purple tinted during a particularly MARVELous intro scene (and throughout, for that matter). I believe infuse still plays back fine, but can’t verify as I cant get signed back in with the API issues occurring at the moment.
Is there an update you are able to give?
I have no progress report per se.
I do see it being worked on and something that looks like progress but don’t know the size of the work being done.
