Over the months i have seen plex getting worse, I use a Nvidia shield as my player but i have my mum on a roku and a friend on a firestick anf recently cannot watch 90% of anything with an error
could not play direct play ERROR and unable to play errors.
Nothing has been changed so what could be the problem

Let me reply to you real quick on this one since you had no response, I’ve dealt with Direct Play issues for a while, all you got to do (works in my case) is go into settings and turn it off. You find it under Video category. Unfortunately, it switches itself on again after every update on the client device 
so it’ll need turning off again.

Thanks for the reply , I dried this but it did not work plus 3 people linked to my plex account now all have this problem all of a sudden,
I have no problems on my phone at all. Seems like some files play but most don’t, pulling my hair out on this
