So I have been having this really specific issue with streaming some H264 and HEVC content that has subtitles to the plex android tv app installed on my shield tv. When attempting to play this content the device, the stream will buffer frequently making it impossible to watch. Where it gets weird is that playback of these files is flawless on the following devices:
IOS - Player Version: 7.19.1 both on wifi and cellular data
Mac OS - Player Version: 1.33.0.2444-a220eae4 wifi
IPad OS - Player Version: 7.18 wifi
and the weirdest one, KODI Add-on (Installed on the same shield tv as the android tv app): Addon Version: 0.3.3
This is just baffling to me as on all these other devices the content plays flawlessly, while on the dedicated android tv app I’m waiting upwards of 20 minutes for it to buffer, otherwise it stops and starts constantly. While playing the content through the Kodi plug-in it’s also flawless with no buffering after the initial loading of content. I am running the latest version of plex for android tv and the most recent version of plex media server for Synology DSM. This feels like a very niche bug and it would be cool to see it get resolved or if there is some kind of setting that is making the android tv app perform worse than the other I have tested. Attached are the server logs if that would be helpful.
Note: I also found this issue to appear on the PS5 app and web player.
