Buffering on Sony Android Tv

Recently moved house, starting having issues with buffering, no transcoding no subs. no chokes on CPU, RAM or Lan, Server is nothing special but only has to serve as my media gets re-encoded to direct play formats, I did notice plex was capping bitrate to TV at 20000Kbps (which could cause the buffer, movie with 15000Kbps bitrate gets doubled to 30000Kbps).
So I plugged in Xbox and gave that a try no issues, went back to TV (Xbox off) all good. (yeah fixed) NO. Packed Xbox away about 30 mins later went to watch a movie back to buffering or what I believe is buffering. Makes no sense. Gig Lan, Server and tv both connected via switch, Before I moved no issues at all. Had multiple streams 4K H.265 no buffering even when seeking.
Since, I have removed and reinstalled TV App, and server.
Hope someone can help (sorry for War and Peace)

Server Version#: 4.22.2
Player Version#: 7.28.0.1.15501

Yeah I get that I haven’t checked what it is in the TV 100Mbps or 1000Mbps, either way a 30Mbps stream shouldn’t be Buffering, That and it was all fine before only things that has change is I now have slightly better broadband (but im working local) and my address has changed. same network gear same TV same server. Also doesn’t explain how within 1 hour and plugging in and unplugging an xbox it goes from not working, to working, to not again.

Your logs show that it’s direct playing the file, which shouldn’t work. You have DTS-HD 7.1 audio. My guess is that this is causing your issues. I don’t know why the app is trying to direct play. You’ll need to provide the logs from the Android TV after recreating the issue.

Only one of the files I tried was DTS others either aac or ac3. Just for giggles I plug the Xbox back in. Lan connection hdmi plugged into tv. Xbox turned off. Played to movies without a fault then buffered twice then fine again. I will try to recreate both instances and get app logs if not tonight tomorrow.

ok so xbox completely unplugged same batman movie file HEVC MKV 5.1 AAC. same issue plays a few seconds the stops for between 10 secs to 3 mins. then plays a few secs again. attached logs think I have attach the sony tv app log also let me know.
I cant see anything in the app log that relates to that movie file so not such its the right one

I will try this, hopping to resolve lan issues as Sony tv sometimes miss behaves when lan connected and Wi-fi on. Plus Wi-fi can get quite loaded in my house.

I see it. The log shows it’s direct playing the file. I do see where playback is pausing, but I can’t tell why. It could be a slow transfer from your server or something with the file that the app doesn’t like. I do see you are trying to play included vob subtitles. It is odd that you have vob subtitles with a 4K file. vob are used with dvds. BR and 4K should be PGS. Turn off the subtitles and see if that makes it better.

I noticed subs was on so turned them off before I downloaded the logs and started the stream again with the same issue. so not the subs causing it. again as soon as I plug the xbox in power plug in, hdmi into tv, ethernet cable in but xbox turn off it plays fine through the tv app. its madness cant think if a single reason how that would make a difference.
Anyway so last log should show the issue with subs off. I don’t really ever use subs as normally have them foreign parts burnt in during re encode.

again checked today subs off still the same issue, now seems to be effecting the Xbox as well sporadically. going to spend a few days playing with my network try to spread ip’s out etc. if anyone can see anything in logs provided above let me know. Thanks

Almost done with Plex now looking for possible alternatives.
