I just noticed that Woody Allen appears twice as a Director and there are different movies assigned to each instance. I have tried to fix these, but they seem stuck?
Can anyone help? How can I identify other duplicates like this?
You can also do it on the library itself: ⋮ > Manage Library > Refresh All Metadata
There had been a change to how Plex handles actors a few months ago. This should was aiming at reducing accidental mixing up of same-named actors (or directors). Items that had not been refreshed should still use only the actor’s name while the refreshed items should be using a unique ID for each actor.
If this is indeed not working for you, the only other idea coming to mind is some hiccup with actors/directors from embedded metadata (as those obviously cannot be matched to a unique ID.
Edit: just for reference… Woody Allen might be a bad example because there’s really just that one celeb listed on IMDb; pick e.g. Chris Evans and you’re confronted with 80+ persons (actors, directors, crew…).
Not sure, but if the library is using the older legacy agents, you could assign different agents to movies if you couldn’t match or chose to use a different match. In that case, refreshing the metadata would refresh from the agents assigned to the movies. Poor explanation, I know, but it’s possible to get some different results…
If you are using the old agents, try assigning all of the movies to the same agent.
