Disable (automatic/accidental) letterbox zooming on Plex @ Apple TV 4K?

Server Version#: 1.18.4.2171
Player Version#: 2.12 (1) @ Apple TV 4K tvOS 13.3 (17K449)

It happened to me already several times now that halfway through a movie I said to myself „Wait a second, something looks wrong here!?“ and then realized that the aspect ratio isn’t how it should be because the image has been zoomed. Double-tapping the remote resolves the problem and brings back the rest of the missing image (and the letterbox).

I’ve learned that this letterbox zoom is a tvOS 11+ feature, but I find it extremely annoying when it kicks in automatically on 1:2.35 flick without even telling me. I mean I don’t have the feeling that I zoom in myself accidentally, as I don’t see the zooming happening (if so, it must happen at the very beginning of the movie, with the first 1-3 seconds still being black).

@elan
My question: Is there any way to prevent this from happening or disable/suppress letterbox zooming for the Plex Player on Apple TV entirely? If this option doesn’t exit yet, I’d like to see it.

I saw that in the Apple TV Settings > AirPlay and HomeKit there’s AirPlay Display: Underscan which was set to Auto, and which I’ve changed now to Off. But I assume that it affects only AirPlay-streamed content from other Apple devices, not the Plex player on the ATV.

@sergiou87 ~ you might know this one.

Sorry I forgot to reply :confounded:

Unfortunately, there is no way to disable that behavior right now.

Can’t you trick the tvOS by putting another (NULL, do nothing) command on that remote control double tap gestures!? Or is this gesture blocked by the tvOS?
