Hello,
I have a question about that annoying resume playback feature. Can you disable that?
Why would you want to do that? If you are watching something and you are interrupted for any reason I do not understand why you would not want to be able to resume where you left off.
Also, on all the clients I use, you are given a choice of play from where you left off and play from the beginning.
Seems like what you want is already there.
I do not really give a damn what you want. I will give replies as I see fit. The question is legit and it does look like Plex already does what you want because you can watch as random as you want and if something is presented as able to resume you can just ignore it and go play whatever you want.
Plex does not, as much as they might like to, force you to play anything.
Well, exactly what “feature” you are talking about and how you are encountering it and which client you are using are all things that would go a long way toward giving folks enough information to be able to help.
Asking to “disable” a feature without saying exactly how you are using Plex and encountering the feature is not a very good way to learn how to do what you want.
Details are your and everybody else’s friend.
I give up. I need details because I only see that when I am trying to play a previously partially played video. I do not see how having to choose between “Resume Playing” and “Play from the start” is at all any extra inconvenience. But it no longer matters to me as it seems you would rather complain about it than tell anyone exactly what you do to encounter the intrusive feature so, maybe, a fix can be suggested.
Here are more details:
I do not like this feature. The end.
I do not want to write novels abou it so I have to shorten it a little bit I hope you understand.
As recent as the very last Roku App - right before the ‘New and Improved’ UNO - a user had a button that would immediately resume playback without a stupid question/answer period. One would assume, employing the most basic Common Horse Sense, a ‘Shuffle Function’ would not entail the 'Question/Answer Period as it kind of defeats ‘Shuffle’ altogether.
Yes, I see your point. Unfortunately Plex doesn’t see the point.
The ‘Resume Playback Immediately’ button (the one right above the ‘Start From Beginning/Select Version’ button) was abandoned in favor of the ‘Question/Answer’ period. Why? I don’t know. My horse and I are mystified.
Silver and I were also shocked to learn ‘Shuffle’ required a ‘Question/Answer’ period. Silver is just shaking his head on that one, but he does suggest as a ‘work-around’ marking the entire library you wish to Shuffle from either Watched or Unwatched. That will, at least, remove all the resume points so you can Shuffle.
Silver likes Carrots.
Send him some.
I’m closing this as this is clearly not a productive conversation.
@michal_h if you really want this I suggest you make a post in Feature suggestion area on how you would like an option to configure it to do it how you want. While allowing others to keep it how they want. And clearly describe the option you think it needs. Does it always start from beginning does it always start from where left off. How does one re-enable if they want.
