How is this not a thing?!
People should be able to decide what they want to see on their details page.
I personally only want to see actors and related movies, please let us disable Reviews regardless of what database (IMDB, RT,…) we use.
Agree! Why Plex REFUSES to add simple on/off switches for all features is extremely frustrating. As far as I know Plex has not explained their rationale on the subject. I wish we could at least vote on a feature after it was implemented. Recently on one of my Rokus they changed the little triangle to a blue circle to indicate of a show was watched or not. Really? Was the yellow indicator THAT terrible? Plex seems to constantly screw with things that work fine and ignore the requests of paying customers.
Bit of a workaround, but you can use Ublock or another ad blocker to block those specific sections if you right click the page, hit “block element” and highlight the rating section. You should only have to do it once, too.
That trick only works on Plex Web. Now we also have that thing on the windows app.
Voted. Give us the choice here. I don’t know how alienating your core users with unwanted/unasked features is a good move. I would be perfectly fine with it if that was an option.
As a server owner, I will certainly not recommend my Plex users to spend money on your app in its current state.
Having to use an adblocker to avoid this in the browser is absurd. The Plex app has been rendered useless by this: I imagine that few people want to see random opinions (and spoilers) above the useful related movies feature. There should at least be an option to disable it and have it as an additional feature for those who want it.
Can I please refresh this topic by asking that reviews be made optional? As it stands, it feels like a payola deal between Plex and RT, where ‘toggle’ has been vetoed because the client demanded it. If that’s the case, and advertising material is being included in the paid Plex interface, it’s something that needs stating more clearly.
Dude, this is pretty slick. The python code looks pretty simple too, afaict you just intercept the metadata update() call with your ReviewAgent, and blanks all the reviews out (if they exist) and sets the rating to 10.0.
I haven’t tried if it is okay to just update the metadata of any movie…
I can confirm that simply clicking ... -> Refresh Metadata works like a champ.
Glad to hear that you like it.
as soon as I found out how to overwrite something that’s been set by the “parent” agent, the rest was easy.
I also use it to (mis-)use reviews and replace (or add to) the original reviews with further tiles for major Awards (like Academy Awards, etc) that have been won by a movie… but this is a different agent
