I want to come back to Plex, but I cannot figure out how to get rid of the reviews from Rotten Tomatoes. I am one that seldom agrees with the pretentious reviews, but more importantly, these are my favorite movies and don’t need someone else’s review - mostly dissing my favorites.
Please Plex… PLEASE give us the option to remove these 1/3 of the screen reviews.
I simply gave you a work around, you are the one who started off with the rousing subject line that is sure to get a lot of dev support behind you. Good luck!
I got the email notification from my enhancement request and wanted to reply… It isn’t an OCD thing, it is over 1/3 of the real estate of a 100inch screen and it is pretty gaudy. Most importantly, it is garbage I don’t want. Add the actors, add similar movies, add factual information instead of FORCING in 3rd party sites of ransom keyboard hacks and their opinions. I mean, how hard is it to toggle an option. No I don’t want trailers for my library and no I don’t want some jackwagon’s reviews. I regret so much with giving money to Plex for a lifetime pass because I stopped using it and went to Emby, for the second time. Sadly, I will be foolish and try Plex again in a year or so like last time, because I do own it.
Linkponder - very well stated!
If Plex keeps the reviews and as Techno suggested we have other options, then maybe they could include Common Sense Media as a review option. Yes indeed Link, less real-estate would be nice.
If you use the MovieDB agent instead of PlexMovie as your main agent for the library there won’t be any review as it does not gather them. ( need to make sure PlexMovie is not enabled as a secondary agent as well)
After changing it will only affect newly added movies. Would need to do a fix match on existing items (which I know would not be fun to do) or you would need to rebuild library from scratch so all use that instead, a simple refresh will not do it.
keep in mind watch state is linked to the GUID from which agent it used so everything would also be end up being unwatched if you used PlexMovie since the beginning.
(I understand none of this is optimal or as easy as flipping a toggle as requested. just passing along some info)
Techno - My apologies as I did not mean to offend your sensitivity towards post titles. Ultimately, I have a solution and that was my intent. Developers will respond if you’re using another product in that they do want our money so they will help us get the product we wish to have if it a common request. Good night all and thank you for the responses
Thanks, I don’t get offended by the Internet, nor am I immune to my own bias and desires. Though I do enjoy the occasional joust of responding in kind to sensationalized posts and various internets angst.
Glad you got a solution above and beyond my simple suggestion.
Indeed it is an annoying thing. especially on a 120" screen! The option to disable it would be great. And if not possible that they just move it completely down the screen. Sadly for me I can not use the work-around, as I do use the video trailers for guests…
After some messing around with the database files of Plex, I found a solution to remove the obnoxious review data from my database. And keeping other extra info like movie trailers, as this is useful when I have guests.
Your can find a little howto below. Yes it would be easier that Plex provides us with the options to include it or not, but the workaround with Notepad++ is fairly easy to do.
