I think burning subtitles require lots of CPU power and that the server owner should be able to disable them and instead make the server transcode the subtitles to whatever format the client supports.
That’s where I disagree with you. Why are you going to provide content to someone only to cripple it for them.
On another note, what if the subtitles are actually needed for this shared user(or their company).
example;
Homer gives Grampa Simpson access to his server.
Subtitle burning = transcoding
I just think it’s bad that text based subtitles are being burnt in instead of converted to a format that is supported by the client

Many Plex clients can play text-based subtitles.
Some cannot (or have some quirks while doing that, so Plex defaults to burning in to make subtitles available on those clients.)
